A graduate fellow of geriatric medicine from George Washington University, Dr. Rogelio Trevino was recruited by the Seton Medical System to set up his practice in Williamson County. While he and his wife Nadia Gutierrez, a Registered Nurse, sought wise counsel from a number of medical and business professionals, they turned to and trusted the Texas State SBDC for business startup guidance.
There, Certified Business Advisor Dick Johnson advised the couple on structuring their business and on creating a successful business plan for what was to become Georgetown Family and Geriatric Medicine. Johnson also helped identify the right location for their family practice office based on research involving long-term trends. Dr. Trevino selected Georgetown due to the growth of the area and the proximity to numerous senior adult communities.
The practice is located in a former medical facility, which Trevino purchased with both his own funds and an SBA 504 loan and line of credit. They have already added two more staff members to provide care for their growing family care practice.

“The most important element the SBDC provided us was their objectivity in helping us fully understand the business side of managing our practice.” – Dr. Rogelio Trevino and Nadia Gutierrez, R.N.
